Sunningdale Care Home

Welcome to Sunningdale Care Home

At Sunningdale Care Home we specialise in providing high-quality, compassionate dementia care in a safe, calm and supportive environment. With over 45 years of experience, our dedicated and highly trained team is committed to meeting the individual needs of people living with dementia.

Our home has been extensively refurbished to create comfortable,  restful surroundings that promote wellbeing, dignity and independence. We are recognised by many local authorities for our proven success in supporting individuals with dementia whose needs may be complex or whose behaviour may sometimes be described as challenging.

We proudly support residents that other care homes may have been unable to accommodate, tailoring our care to each person rather than expecting them to fit a rigid model. Our approach is rooted in understanding, patience and respect.

At Sunningdale, we believe that high-quality care and compassion should be a right, not a privilege. Residents are encouraged to move freely and confidently within our home, with secure grounds and thoughtfully designed corridors that promote independence while offering reassurance and safety.

We place care before profit, working closely with families and local authorities to ensure our service remains as accessible and affordable as possible - without ever compromising on standards.

Sunningdale Care Home is more than a place to live; it is a place where people are valued, understood, and truly cared for.

Why Choose Sunningdale Care Home?

Choosing a care home is one of the most emotional and difficult decisions a family can make.
At Sunningdale, we aim to make that choice feel reassuring, not overwhelming.
With over 45 years of experience in dementia care, we specialise in supporting people with complex needs, including those who may walk freely or display behaviours that other homes struggle to manage. We do not give up on people — we adapt our care around them.

Our home offers:

• A safe, secure, and welcoming environment
• Thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor spaces that allow residents to move freely and safely
A dedicated, experienced team who genuinely care
• A commitment to working closely with families and local authorities

Above all, we believe families should feel confident that their loved one is not just being cared for, but understood, respected, and truly at home.

At Sunningdale Care Home, we don't just look after people — we care for them as i f they were our own.

Our Values

At Sunningdale Care Home, our values guide everything we do.
We believe that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, kindness, and respect,
no matter how complex their needs may be. For us, care is not just a service — it is a
responsibility we take personally.

We understand that living with dementia affects not only the individual, but also their family.
That is why we take the time to truly know each resident — their life story, their routines,
their preferences, and what brings them comfort. We see the person first, always.

Our ethos is simple:
High-quality care and compassion should be a right, not a privilege.

We create a calm, homely environment where residents feel safe, valued, and free to be
themselves. Independence is encouraged, reassurance is always close by, and kindness is at the heart of every interaction..

“We care for dementia sufferers including under 65 years of age”

We understand

We know how demanding it can be, caring for someone you love.

We understand the strain caused when their faculties fade and their needs grow. Neither carer nor cared-for benefit from hanging on too long before turning to professional help.

At Sunningdale Care Home we believe that understanding and a safe environment offer the best care for dementia sufferers, not sedatives and restrictions.

We believe in a person-centred, not diagnosis-led approach to care, and our experience proves that vulnerable people are both healthier and happier this way.

Better environment, better care

Many dementia sufferers feel the need to wander, without knowing where they’re headed. Normal care home procedure is to severely limit the movements of people who may be in a confused state of mind. Restriction can lead to stress and verbal or physical confrontation, as sufferers can feel frustration at loss of control in their lives, along with the inability to express their wishes and needs.

Sunningdale provides an environment where it is safe for residents to have as much freedom as possible. We operate a daytime open door policy, so residents can enjoy the secure landscaped gardens as much as they like, easing any feelings of restriction.

The house itself is a spacious Victorian building, refurbished to the highest standard. Situated opposite the award winning Lister Park the leafy surround aids the sense of tranquillity.

We encourage families to provide treasured personal items to help make rooms feel like home. Five large, airy communal lounges, a fully fitted hair dressers, and 32 single en-suite rooms and four double en-suite rooms across two floors make Sunningdale Care Home large enough to cope but small enough to care.
